You have reached the settlement website for Jock et al. v. Sterling Jewelers, Inc. In the Jock case, Claimants alleged Sterling paid female sales associates less than male employees who were doing the same work and denied females promotion opportunities in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Equal Pay Act. Sterling denies all allegations. After many years of litigation, the Parties reached a Settlement, which was confirmed on March 15, 2023.

If you are a female who worked for Sterling Jewelers Inc. between July 22, 2004, to May 2, 2018, as a Part-Time Sales Associate, Full-Time Sales Associate, Department Manager, Assistant Manager, Assistant General Manager, Store Manager, or General Manager at Belden, Friedlanders, Goodman, Jared, JB Robinson, Kay, LeRoys, LeVian, Marks & Morgan, Osterman, Rogers, Shaws, Weisfield, and/or Ultra Diamonds (after Ultra Diamonds was acquired by Sterling Jewelers Inc. effective June 1, 2013), you are a Title VII Settlement Class Member in this class and collective action settlement (“Settlement”).

If you are a female who worked for Sterling Jewelers Inc. between October 16, 2003, to May 2, 2018, as a Part-Time Sales Associate, Full-Time Sales Associate, Department Manager, Assistant Manager, Assistant General Manager, Store Manager, or General Manager at Belden, Friedlanders, Goodman, Jared, JB Robinson, Kay, LeRoys, LeVian, Marks & Morgan, Osterman, Rogers, Shaws, Weisfield, and/or Ultra Diamonds (after Ultra Diamonds was acquired by Sterling Jewelers Inc. effective June 1, 2013) and you submitted a consent to join the EPA case in 2016, you are an EPA Settlement Class Member in this class and collective action settlement (“Settlement”).

If you are a Title VII or EPA Settlement Class Member (i.e., a Settlement Class Member), the Settlement may affect your rights, and you could receive money.

On June 23, 2022, the Arbitrator overseeing this matter preliminarily approved the Settlement and on July 29, 2022, Notice was mailed to all Settlement Class Members at the most recent address Sterling had on file.

Settlement Class Members did not need to take any action to participate in the Settlement other than keeping the Settlement Administrator updated on their contact information. The Notice sent to Settlement Class Members has more information on the Settlement Class Member’s legal rights with respect to the Settlement.

On November 15, 2022, the Arbitrator granted final approval of Class Action Settlement, a copy of which may be found here.

On March 15, 2023, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York confirmed the Arbitrator’s final approval, a copy of which may be found here.

Settlement payments for Settlement Class Members began being mailed on April 24, 2023.
